Clarity Cubes, Ultra Clean, SuperFlock and other flocculants – does that make sense?
The products mentioned above, such as clarity cubes, are classic so-called flocculants. They contain sticky substances that bind fine suspended particles into larger particles by gluing them together. This causes these dirt particles to reach a size that can also be filtered by a cartridge filter.
Disadvantages of Clarity Cubes and similar products in hot tubs
This sticky substance can hardly be removed from cartridge filters anymore. Because it not only binds the finest dirt particles but naturally also sticks inside the cartridge filter and all other surfaces such as the pipework. Until they reach a filterable size, this “glue” circulates in the hot tub. That means, with flocculants, you do achieve similar water purity levels with cartridge filters as with the Ego3 filter, but the hot tub filter cartridge must be cleaned more often, is more difficult to clean, and slowly but surely the pipework, heater, and sensors become increasingly clogged.
With Ego3, you don’t need clarity cubes or other flocculants!
Ego3 Advantage Number 10: no more flocculants needed for highest water purity
Ego3 hot tub filters look very simple, but there is an immense amount of know-how in the details. The Zero Dirt effect is a special development in the nano area of the filter ball fibers. With this special surface, the Ego3 filter filters 100% quantitatively and qualitatively. It filters EVERY particle – no matter how small it is!
Our filter is the only filter worldwide that produces so-called “technically pure water.”
That means it is 100% free of dirt (NTU=0.1!). While with cartridge-filtered water, you bathe in millions of invisible dirt particles.
Conclusion Ego3 filter – Clarity Cubes or similar – Zero Dirt effect
Flocculants are not necessary and actually very bad in hot tubs. In our experts’ opinion, flocculants only make sense in swimming pools with sand filter systems (with backwash).
The sensible omission (which is no longer necessary with Ego3) of clarity cubes and other flocculants, because these are completely obsolete with Ego3, has the following advantages:

- Pipework does not clog
- Heater and sensors do not clog
- Despite the omission of flocculants when using Ego3 hot tub filters, there is zero dirt in the water
