2. Question: What is the diameter of the filter shaft?

Please now measure the diameter of the shaft in which the filter is submerged.

Remove everything else beforehand, such as floating skimmers, skimmer pipes, upper sealing rings (for skimmer pipes), "caps" over the filter, coarse pre-filters, or similar items.

There are three options, please choose:

  • Set 5 – Toploader Special including 10 years’ supply of filter balls - for ALL filters in the 150mm shaft Complete set

    Diameter = 150mm

    In this case, the connection does not matter. It is always the Ego3 Toploader! This is simply pushed into the slot until the lid rests on top and is not screwed in. It holds by itself in any slot through three contact points.

  • Diameter greater than 150mm

    In this case, you do not need the toploader, but an Ego3 filter with the correct thread or bayonet connection. Just click below to go to the selection.

  • The shaft has a step!

    For this special variant, which is installed in a few hot tubs, we unfortunately do not offer an EGO3 filter.

    Note: There are some manufacturers, like Fonteyn or Passion Spas, that have a small step here. It still works for them.

How to install the toploader:

The Ego3 is something very special because it can replace many cartridge filters regardless of whether they are slightly larger or smaller and whether they have an internal thread or no thread at all. The toploader always fits if the shaft has an internal diameter of 150mm (when all old parts are removed). We filter vertically and use the shaft itself for mounting – not the connection at the bottom.

Dismantling of previous components

Remove everything that was previously installed. Note: Sometimes there is a sealing ring at the top of the shaft that also needs to be removed.

Preparation Toploader

Check the sieve at the bottom of the container. Fill the Ego3 filter container with 12-14 filter balls.

There are three felt gliders (these are the contact points to the shaft) glued around the circumference. Make sure they are present and secure.

Installation

The first time, carefully slide the container into the slot. The felt gliders must fit cleanly into the slot without being scraped off. If the slot is very tight (there are tolerances), you can, for example, remove one felt glider.

Completion of commissioning

The filter goes into the chamber. The lid is larger and rests on top of the chamber (which is why there are 4 colors) and remains visible. The lid is your new skimmer.
